small victories...

I finished reading "The Stranger" by Albert Camus. I really liked it. Camus writes with the same existential honesty as Haruki Murakami except without all the humor and poetic fluff. Instead, Camus is more socially conscious and deals with how the rational man; a person who confronts the world with only what he knows from first hand experience, is helpless when overwhelmed by those with unshakable convictions (religious beliefs, social norms and expectations). Really, I'm just paraphrasing a quote from the author on the back of the book ("the nakedness of man faced with the absurd") but I thought it was worth elaborating upon and making my own. I bought it last Saturday, after I felt an urge to read something and I ended up seeing it on my friend Ethan's facebook profile. I wonder how often people actually do that; read books off each others' profiles on social networking sites. In conclusion, you should read it. Itwasthemotherfuckingshit.

This previous Friday, I went to Smartbar with Rebecca to see Mylo spin. The club was really nice and and Mylo was excellent. The dancefloor was packed and the atmosphere maintained by these two DJs (Elliot Eastwick opened for Mylo) was euphoric. Everyone, including me was dancing for hours on end with a smile on their face the whole time. Even though I broke up with Rebecca I still really value her friendship. I don't really have anyone else to enjoy music and other art with.

I've doing character models for this animation studio in Japan that I got hooked up with through Seiji. I've finished modeling and unwrapping UVs on two characters so far and I'm starting my third. They said they usually don't outsource characters but I work fast and my work is good. Originally they were going to just give me two characters now they're planning on giving me all nine characters. Thank god I have Seiji to translate for me or I wouldn't have this opportunity.

While I do this freelance job, I've also been cramming as much time rendering my work on the school computers as I can, before I lose access to their dual processor glory when I graduate. Damn it feels... uh... 133+ rendering on 10 computers at once. I wish they had render farm management software so I wouldn't be running around like an idiot.

This is my last week of class at Columbia College. The screening for my Animation Production Studio class's film is on Saturday, May 13th at noon in the film building and My graduation commencement is the next day at 3:30 at the UIC Pavilion on Racine and Harrison. Come if you have a taste for formalities or you just want show me how much you love me. Now to ride it out to the finish line and get out of this fucking place. Hope everything goes smoothly.
